ABOUT
Established in Amsterdam, BERKE is a private high jewellery house creating a limited number of one-of-a-kind pieces and bespoke commissions each year.
Founded by Berke Henny, the house grew from a lifelong connection with making, materials and traditional goldsmithing.
“BERKE has always existed in some form. Over time, it has slowly grown into what it is today.”
After four years of goldsmithing training in Schoonhoven, Berke continued developing her craft while working with a Royal court jeweller. This experience shaped her understanding of precision, quality and the importance of making things properly — values that remain at the heart of BERKE today.
BERKE HENNY
I was raised in an unconventional way, living on an antique ship that my father restored. Surrounded by water, quiet and nature, I think this environment shaped the way I see things more than I realised at the time.
From a young age, I was drawn to making things. I loved materials, working with my hands and noticing the small details in the world around me. Nature, in particular, has always been a source of inspiration.
After completing my goldsmithing training, I continued learning through my work with a Royal court jeweller. It was there that I developed an even deeper appreciation for craftsmanship, precision and the patience that good jewellery requires.
For me, BERKE is about wearable art made by human hands.
A piece can begin as a sketch, a stone, a material or simply an idea that I can't quite let go of. From there, it develops slowly. I spend time finding the right materials, working through the design and collaborating with skilled artisans who help bring it into reality.
Even the details surrounding the jewel matter to me. The boxes are individually made for each piece, so the experience of receiving the jewellery feels like part of the creation itself.
Some pieces come together relatively quickly. Others take months. I don't want to rush that process. Finding the right stone, understanding how a material behaves or allowing a design to change along the way is part of what makes each piece unique.
And then there is the moment when everything finally comes together — when an idea that existed only on paper becomes something you can hold and wear.
That moment is still special to me every time.
